Your track "Chill" is the opener for our SEED Album Volume 8, what a bop! What was your songwriting/recording process like for "Chill"?
Chill is essentially an anthem for self-care. It was extremely therapeutic to put all my issues on paper, and then reaffirm to myself that it’s okay to take time for myself, to chill my stresses. It took all of 30 minutes to write, and about 3 weeks in different producers hands to get all finished. It’s been tucked up my sleeve for a long time now so I’m glad to finally share it. <3
What advice would you give someone who is experiencing creative block/writer's block?
Oh… my…. goodness. Blocks to creativity are so regular but I’ve come up with a few ways to push through the blocks. My favourite is to pick an artist I’m really into at the moment, and then to pretend I am writing a song specifically for them. It gets your mind thinking differently and almost give you permission to explore areas or topics you generally wouldn’t.
Who is your biggest musical inspiration?
I’m vibin’ on H.E.R, and SZA at the moment. There’s always something so intoxicating about strong female figures that I’ve always gravitated too. I think in relation to being gay, the embrace of feminine energy and duality of being able to be vulnerable and fierce at the same time has always been a valuable trait in my eyes. Men don’t be afraid to cry… we are all human.
