Getting to Know: SEYKA

SEYKA_1.jpg

SEYKA - a pop rock powerhouse if ever there was one. For fans of Alex Lahey, Ali Barter and Taylor Swift, SEYKA is the culmination of years of development and experimentation by Gold Coast based singer/songwriter Kasey Thompson. A marriage of delicate vocal stylings, powerful driven guitars and pop production intertwines seamlessly with grittier rock influences to bring you a sound like no other.

With her debut EP in the works and a single release show planned for the coming weeks, we snagged a few precious minutes of Kasey's time to get to know more about the woman behind the mic...

Describe your music in three words...

"Jangly overdriven rock."

My favourite song right now is...

"Wes Anderson by Alex Lahey. I love everything about this track but the thing that really grabs me is the songwriting. It's so beautifully universal and you can picture yourself in the story. I think this kind of writing makes for the best songs."

If I wasn't an artist I would be...

"A garbage woman... I can't drive a manual but I hear they make a decent amount of dosh ;)"

At the moment I'm really diggin'...

"Tavi Gevinson's Rookie Magazine Podcasts. She did this one episode where she interviews Lorde and gets her to talk about her writing process. It's absolutely worth a listen because it's fascinating."
