...and just like that, our 2018 concert series at NightQuarter has come to an end. We've been feeling emotional - and to be honest, we've also been experiencing some pretty intense funnel cake withdrawals over the past few days. However, these highlights from Friday night have cheered us up a little bit. Hopefully they can do the same for you!
In November last year, five lucky Popular Music students took the trip of a lifetime - visiting the TAXI Music Conference in Los Angeles, doing songwriting collaborations in Nashville and exploring the Ground Zero Blues Club in Mississippi. Now they have had a few weeks to reflect, we decided to touch base with MØNIQUE, Josh King and ROYES to find out some of the juicy details of their trip.
Last night four of our newest SEED recruits Josh King, MØNIQUE, SEYKA and ROYES rocked the stage at Miami Marketta as part of Visual Rhythm 2017 - A Music and Art Showcase. We were lucky enough to collaborate with the crew at The Argus from the Queensland College of Art, who put on a photography exhibit and screened short films between the band performances.
On Saturday 24 of June and Sunday 25 June, a number of our artists took to the stage at the Mudgeeraba Show. Saturday featured the talents of Josh King, Kirsty Abrahams, Kimbal Imaz, SEYKA, Athena Joy, Phoebe Sinclair and Angus Oastler. On Sunday, we saw performances from Jake Whittaker, Hazel Mei, Tiahn Berg, Tommy Sheehan, Benny D Williams and AGWA.
Josh King is a pop rock legend, born and raised here on the Gold Coast. With strong influences from artists such as John Mayer and Ed Sheeran, this charming young gun is currently preparing to release his debut EP to the world. As it so happens, Josh will be headlining our concert series at NightQuarter this Friday, so we thought we'd get to know him a bit better before we (and hopefully you!) see him take the stage.
