In November last year, five lucky Popular Music students took the trip of a lifetime - visiting the TAXI Music Conference in Los Angeles, doing songwriting collaborations in Nashville and exploring the Ground Zero Blues Club in Mississippi. Now they have had a few weeks to reflect, we decided to touch base with MØNIQUE, Josh King and ROYES to find out some of the juicy details of their trip.
Last night four of our newest SEED recruits Josh King, MØNIQUE, SEYKA and ROYES rocked the stage at Miami Marketta as part of Visual Rhythm 2017 - A Music and Art Showcase. We were lucky enough to collaborate with the crew at The Argus from the Queensland College of Art, who put on a photography exhibit and screened short films between the band performances.
Gold Coast-dwelling artist ROYES is an enigmatic soul. She has an honesty to her performances that magnetises. With a sound inspired by artists such as Nothing But Thieves, Jeff Buckley and Angus & Julia Stone, this 20 year old will have you pondering life's greatest mysteries and dreaming of faraway lands. Blown away by her debut at our NightQuarter launch series, we caught up with ROYES to delve into the deep end of what drives her passion for song.
